This life-sized, hand-sculpted humerus bone is carved with one of my personal quotes:

“If you don’t cry when I die, what was the fucking point of our relationship?”

I wrote this down while out at a bar with friends after they picked up on the raw honesty of what I’d said. The quote comes from observing how people often avoid truly processing grief, cruising around the pain and the real meaning of their relationships.

To me, not making time to grieve feels like turning your back on the dead.

This piece holds deep meaning for me. I want people to feel comfortable being authentic around me, both with me and about me. If you don’t connect with me, that’s fine but if you do, this message is for you. If you find yourself shocked or missing me when I’m gone, please cry for me. Otherwise, I just might come back and haunt you until you do!

The form of the humerus bone came naturally, as I let the clay guide me. I wanted to create something tall and hollow – that was my only starting point.
