Barcelona art lovers! My autobiographical video art was selected for a group art exhibition – theme Fury!

Through plural and diverse artistic manifestations, anger is expressed, collectivised and becomes a driver of change. Isabel Val – Coordinació Centre Cívic El Coll – La Bruguera

Art Exhibition

Photos from the opening night!

When the exhibition call-out with the theme Fury landed in my inbox (not once, but twice, from two different people), it unlocked emotional memories and led me to think deeply about when fury surfaces in my own life. Many things came to mind, particularly the injustices in the world.

Exhibition Talk

I presented my video art, in Castellano, to a room full of Catalans – I hadn’t rehearsed anything beforehand. I’m not sure the exact meaning of what I said but I definitely told everyone I need to find the words (which is hard enough in English right now).

I spoke about emotions above and under the surface – I used lots of hand actions.

I told everyone my video art is autobiographical, from when I lived in London, where space is tight, just like Barcelona. I told them I needed to find a safe space to listen to my subconscious, to express myself. I used to drive my car and park up somewhere – that was my safe space. I forgot to say about the trains being symbolic of heavy emotions building and letting off steam.

A/V Collaboration

The video art I submitted is set to a soundtrack off the new synth album, Journal by Shape Navigator, find out more details and watch the video and album here.
