A performance piece created by four people in three different locations in Spain through the Artmixture Collective international network. Combining visions, sounds, images and textile for a live event in Órgiva Granada. Inspired by Moon’s idea of creating her own “attire” to then again undo it.

Title: If I Should Come Open
This collaboration was devised and performed by Moon as part of the Artmixture Collective‘s first live performance. Multi instrumentalist Mix Amylo created the collective, organised the event and performs throughout the evening. Moons pain staking and precise arm knitting, while weaving her shadow through the visuals, is meaningful and poetic. There’s no quick fix for making textile of this scale. She elegantly persists with her task, while Deo Rajinder keeps the pace on Indian Tablas and Mix Amylo keeps the mood flowing on keyboards and clarinet.
Video Projections
I provided the video back drop. For the visuals, I chose clips from my archive that represent air – whether contained or disturbing something visible. The video is in black and white to unify the textures with the live knitting process, which uses white fabric yarn.
It was a successful experiment and I hope to be able to repeat it. The timing came out well and there were a couple of knots but not bad at all. The shadows were an interesting aspect, both of my body and the textile fabric.

Communication and Preparation
We coordinated by private message, trusting each one another to bring each of our creative input to the table. I know the musicians but I haven’t yet met the performer, Moon. I had no idea what the dance or music would be like – it was a gorgeous surprise to see the shadows of the arm knitting textile intertwine with the video, the dedication of the performer and the melodic soundscape all weaving into each other.
Video Editing
Even though I could not be there in person, I found video editing the 3 camera documentation spell binding. I decided to keep the piece in it’s entirety for the sake of the music and plus the piece kept me captivated each time I watched it through.
