It was heartwarming to see the Remek crew slip straight back into their old rhythm while setting up for what someone called the Dead Circus party – like no time had passed at all.

Where to go in Liberec – Argonaut!

By 9:30pm on Friday the Argonaut venue was full but not rammed. The introverted DJs were set up on stage, hidden behind the custom made video projection screen and the Mozkocuc Sound System speaker stacks, doing their thing in the shadows while strobes, lasers, backdrops and a smoke machine brought the shenanigans to life.

Technical Difficulties

Then… disaster! About an hour into our live VJ set, the lasers fried the chip inside our projector – the one that actually emits the image. In the middle of the party, Honza was up a sturdy ladder, calmly de-rigging the dead projector and replacing it with a backup he had delivered on the fly. As he was running a different type of long video signal cable across the ceiling, his eager helpers tried to carry him on the ladder (as you do) – he swiftly shut that circus trick down!

Sadly, we couldn’t connect our laptops to the replacement projector, so I transferred a pre-recorded 5-minute video mix onto an ancient machine. Not what we’d hoped for – but it worked. We were gutted not to mix live together but we still got visuals on the screen and in the end, that was enough to carry the vibe.

The party

It was brilliant – two pumping floors, thick with music and bursting with energy. I found myself jumping and punching the air in front of the speaker stacks. I felt alive, wild and free.

The Remek Soundworx team kindly covered the cost of a new projector without hesitation. And there’s already talk of another Remek reunion – maybe next time under the stars, somewhere out in nature, in gorgeous Northern Bohemia.
