Here’s a little taste of the kind of live visuals you can expect from me… This short A/V collaboration with long-time friend and musical maestro Dubversive (aka Richie Stevens) captures the spontaneous, intuitive essence of my VJ style. Think of it as a peek behind the curtain – a glimpse into how I layer, loop, and let the visuals breathe in real-time.
The video isn’t polished to perfection – and that’s the point. It’s raw, playful, and honest. This is exactly how I mix visuals during a live set: intuitive, autobiographical, and instinctive. There’s a joy in letting go of control and embracing the moment – just like in music, it’s all about feel.
What you’re watching
This isn’t stock footage – it’s my own visual archive. I’ve been capturing and curating moving images over years, saving moments that resonate with texture, rhythm, and narrative. For this project, I dove deep into my vault to find clips that reflect the sometimes relaxed, sometimes upbeat dubby, atmospheric pace of Dubversive’s track titled, Sun.
You’ll see fragments of nature, urban abstraction, symbolic imagery and textural moments – all flowing together with the music, reflecting the pulse of real-time VJing. This video is a stripped-back version of what I do on the big screen – but the heart of the experience is here.
Dubversive – rhythm architect
Richie Stevens – known to many as Dubversive and formerly Drumhead – British drummer, engineer, producer, programmer, remixer and one of the few white British reggae drummers who truly command international respect. His beats are intelligent and deeply felt – always groovy, never generic.
Over the years, Richie has worked with icons across genres, but he’s also a brilliant teacher and supporter of artists.
This track he sent me was a dream to work with. The varying tempo allowed for different feelings to come through the edit and I responded by choosing and layering visuals that felt unhurried and spacious.
A long-time friendship finally in sync
Richie and I have known each other for years. We’ve always talked about collaborating but until right now, the stars hadn’t aligned. This little project is something we both felt genuinely excited about – no pressure, no client brief, just the simple desire to create something beautiful together.
It’s a reminder of the power of artistic friendships. When there’s mutual respect, shared history and trust in the process, something authentic can emerge – even from a few video clips and a track passed across the ether.
What’s next
This collaboration is a warm-up for more. I’m always recording, always gathering new material. And Richie? He’s always laying down beats that make you want to move or melt.
If you’d like to book me for a VJ performance or are dreaming of an art + music event, get in touch. Let’s make something that resonates.
